Madurai: Two people were arrested on Wednesday in connection with a petrol bomb attack in Tuticorin that took place on June 16, police said.
Police identified the accused as Karthikeyan, 20, and a juvenile from Tuticorin. The duo was traced through an investigation launched after the incident. Both sustained injuries while allegedly attempting to escape during the arrest and were provided medical treatment before legal action was initiated.
The case relates to the hurling of two kerosene-filled bottles at a private worker, Shanmugham's house in Nehru Colony under the Thalamuthu Nagar police station limits. According to police, two youths arrived on a motorcycle, threw the bottles, and fled. One bottle exploded, but Shanmugham's wife Maharasi, 53, extinguished the fire, preventing injuries.
CCTV footage helped investigators identify the suspects. The motive for the attack is under investigation.
