Rourkela: In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, Sadar police in Sundargarh district arrested two inter-state ganja peddlers from Uttar Pradesh on Thursday. The accused were caught red-handed while illegally transporting over 89 kilograms of ganja, valued at approximately Rs 10 lakh.

Details of the Arrest

The arrested individuals have been identified as Kausal Srivastav (41), a resident of Allahabad, and Sunil Kumar Sahu (34), from Sultanpur. Acting on reliable intelligence, a team from Sadar police station intercepted a suspicious car near Baghabandha in the Karamdihi area. The occupants attempted to flee but were swiftly chased down and apprehended by the police. A thorough search of the vehicle led to the recovery of the contraband.

Investigation and Modus Operandi

Under the direct supervision of the Superintendent of Police (Sundargarh), a special police team was formed to investigate the entire supply chain, from the source to the destination, as well as the financial aspects of the operation. During the investigation, it was revealed that the accused had been using a fake number plate on their car to deceive law enforcement agencies.
