Al-Falah University in Faridabad finds itself at the center of a major security investigation following revelations about one of its faculty members and connections to the recent Delhi blast near Red Fort.
Faculty Member's Troubled Past Exposed
Documents obtained by investigators reveal that Dr Nisar-ul-Hassan, who was associated with Al-Falah University before his disappearance, had previously been dismissed by the Jammu and Kashmir administration in November 2023. The termination occurred under Article 311(2)(c) of the Constitution, which permits the removal of public servants without departmental inquiry when state security is involved.
According to official records, Dr Hassan served as an assistant professor of medicine at SMHS Hospital in Srinagar before his dismissal. He also identified himself as the president of the Doctors Association Kashmir, which authorities allege he used as a platform to spread secessionist propaganda with support from Pakistani proxies.
University's Response to Allegations
Following reports linking its staff to the Delhi explosion, Al-Falah University issued an official statement expressing deep distress over the developments. The university, located in Village Dhauj, Faridabad, extended condolences to those affected by the incident that claimed nine lives and injured nearly two dozen people on November 10.
Vice-chancellor Prof (Dr) Bhupinder Kaur Anand confirmed that two doctors from the university have been detained by investigating agencies. However, the institution emphasized that it has no connection with the individuals beyond their official roles at the university.
The university strongly denied allegations about prohibited chemicals or materials being stored on campus, describing such reports as completely baseless and misleading. In their defense, administrators stated that all laboratory activities follow strict safety protocols and meet regulatory standards.
Ongoing Investigation and University History
Police authorities are currently searching for Dr Hassan, whose whereabouts remain unknown. The university has pledged full cooperation with investigating agencies to ensure a fair and conclusive determination in matters relating to national security.
Prof Anand urged individuals and organizations to verify information through official channels before making public statements. The university reaffirmed its commitment to national solidarity, unity, peace, and security while maintaining normal operations on campus.
Al-Falah University, part of the Al-Falah Group of Institutions, has been operational since 1997, gained autonomous status in 2009, and received university recognition in 2014. The institution is recognized by the University Grants Commission under sections 2(f) and 12(B) of the UGC Act. Since 2019, it has operated a medical college and began offering postgraduate MD/MS courses in 2023.
The university concluded its statement by reaffirming its dedication to academic excellence, transparency, and national responsibility as investigations into the Red Fort blast continue.
