Minister Assures Justice for Meja Triple Murder Victims

Prayagraj: State cabinet minister Nand Gopal Gupta “Nandi” on Friday met the kin of the Meja triple murder victims and assured them of stringent action against the perpetrators. Three elderly members of a family, including two women, were found murdered outside their house in Kukur Katwa village under the Meja police station limits on Tuesday morning.

Accused Arrested and Injured in Encounter

The prime accused was arrested the same day. However, he was injured in a police encounter after he allegedly attempted to escape custody when a police team took him to Paranipur Road to recover the murder weapon. The accused was reportedly pressuring the family to solemnise the marriage of the girl of the family with him.

Family Expresses Safety Concerns

The bereaved family told the minister that the prime accused might commit a similar crime if released from jail, posing a threat to their safety. The minister, however, assured them that the criminals would not be spared at any cost. He said under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the government has been working for the past nine years to eradicate crime and criminals, and action in this regard is underway.
