16-Year-Old Gang-Rape Victim Succumbs After Month-Long Battle
UP teen gang-rape victim dies after forced acid drinking

A 16-year-old girl from Uttar Pradesh's Hamirpur district has tragically passed away after enduring a month-long struggle for survival following a brutal sexual assault that included being forced to drink acid by her attackers.

The Horrific Incident and Medical Battle

The nightmare began on October 28 when three assailants, including one minor, allegedly gang-raped the teenager at her home in Hamirpur district. In a particularly cruel act, the perpetrators forced the victim to consume acid, causing severe internal injuries that would ultimately claim her life.

Her desperate fight for survival spanned multiple medical facilities across Uttar Pradesh. The family first took her to a community health center in Sarila, but doctors quickly referred her to Jhansi Medical College where she received treatment for approximately 12 days.

When her condition failed to improve, she was transferred to Hamirpur district hospital, and subsequently to Lala Lajpat Rai Hospital in Kanpur, where she remained under medical care for about 15 days.

Financial Hurdles and Final Days

As her health continued to deteriorate, doctors referred her to SGPGI in Lucknow, but the family faced an insurmountable financial barrier when the hospital demanded Rs 2 lakh for necessary surgery. Unable to arrange the substantial amount, they moved her to King George's Medical University (KGMU) as a last resort.

At KGMU's surgery ward, medical professionals determined she required an immediate blood transfusion. Jalalpur Police Station Inspector Ajit Singh intervened personally, arranging two units of blood through hospital staff. The transfusion was administered on Thursday night, but medical intervention came too late to save the young victim.

Justice Pursued as Investigation Continues

Police have taken decisive action against the accused. On November 9, authorities detained the minor suspect and sent him to a juvenile home. The two adult suspects were arrested on Friday and are currently undergoing interrogation as the investigation progresses.

In a significant development, officers from Lucknow Police recorded the victim's statement just hours before her tragic passing at 2 AM on Friday at KGMU. The young girl had been placed on a ventilator around 1 AM after developing breathing difficulties, but medical efforts proved unsuccessful.

The case has highlighted ongoing concerns about women's safety and medical accessibility in Uttar Pradesh, with the victim's identity being protected in accordance with Supreme Court directives regarding sexual assault cases.
