A 24-year-old woman was allegedly beaten to death by her husband, who suspected her of infidelity, in Amravati district. The incident occurred in Jawla Shahapur village, Chandur Bazar tehsil, on Monday evening.
Chandur Bazar Police arrested the 26-year-old husband late Monday night. According to police, the victim, Priyanshi, originally from Ballarshah, met the accused, Sunny Athawale (26), through a social media platform while he was working there. Their relationship developed into love, and they married about one-and-a-half years ago at a temple. After marriage, the couple started living in Jawala Shahapur.
Police said that within a few days, Sunny began doubting his wife's character, leading to frequent disputes. He allegedly subjected her to repeated physical assault, restricted her movement, and harassed his elderly parents.
Around 5:30 pm on Monday, police received information about a woman found dead inside a house in Jawala Shahapur. Officers found Priyanshi lying motionless with severe injuries. A preliminary investigation revealed that the accused allegedly attacked her with a stick, repeatedly striking her on the forehead, face, and chest, resulting in her death.
The body has been sent for a postmortem. A case has been registered based on a complaint filed by Pravin Pathare, the police patil. Further investigation is being conducted by API Ulhas Rathod.
