A 55-year-old woman and her pet dog were discovered dead, while her husband—a homeopathy practitioner—remains hospitalized in critical condition after the couple allegedly consumed pesticide at their residence in Southwest Delhi's Bindapur area, police reported on Tuesday.

Incident Details

Police received a PCR call at the Bindapur police station around 2:49 am regarding a suspected suicide attempt at a house in Indira Park. Upon arrival, officers found Jaspreet Kaur (55) deceased and her husband, Richhpal (56), semi-conscious.

The couple was rushed to a hospital, where Jaspreet was declared dead on arrival. Richhpal is currently undergoing treatment at Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital. Their pet dog was also found dead inside the house.

Preliminary investigations suggest the couple consumed pesticide around 11:30 am on June 29 in an apparent suicide pact. During questioning, Richhpal reportedly told police that he and his wife had ingested the poison together. Investigators suspect depression may have driven the extreme step. Initial inquiries revealed that their children live separately outside Delhi.

Police stated that the exact circumstances leading to the incident are being verified. No suicide note was recovered from the scene.
