Woman Killed in Kundapur Accident; Cattle Transport Case Filed

Udupi/Mangaluru: A 78-year-old woman was killed in an accident after a car struck her near Arasarabettu cross in Beejadi village, Kundapur, on Thursday. The deceased was identified as Chandramathi, a resident of Gopadi village in Kundapur. According to police, Chandramathi was walking along the roadside when the incident occurred. She was hit from behind, sustaining a severe bleeding head injury and losing consciousness. She was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared her dead on arrival. Kundapur traffic police have registered a case and are investigating the matter.

Cattle Transportation Incident

In a separate incident, Uppinangady police apprehended two individuals for transporting 16 cattle without proper documentation in a truck at Anebail on Wednesday. During a routine check, police discovered the cattle in the vehicle. The driver, Pardeen Khan, 24, a resident of Kadur, and another accused, Javed Pasha, 34, of Holenarsipura, failed to produce any documents related to the cattle transportation. Consequently, the truck and the cattle were seized. A case has been registered under sections 5, 6, and 12 of the Karnataka Prevention of Slaughter and Preservation of Cattle Act, 2020; section 11(d) of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act; and section 3(5) of the BNS. An investigation is underway, police added.
