The attack occurred around 4:30 PM on a busy road in the Gomti Nagar extension area, known for heavy pedestrian and vehicular traffic. According to eyewitnesses, the woman was walking alone when a man approached her from behind and stabbed her multiple times before disappearing into the crowd. A passerby captured a video of the aftermath, which shows the victim lying on the ground with bloodstains while bystanders rush to her aid.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Lucknow, Shashank Singh, confirmed that the victim is a resident of the nearby locality and is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital. “Her condition is stated to be stable. Police teams have been deployed to track down the suspect, who is described as a man in his late 20s, wearing a blue shirt and black trousers. Preliminary investigations suggest a personal motive, possibly stemming from a prior altercation. “We are questioning the victim’s family and friends to establish the sequence of events leading to the attack,” added a police officer involved in the case.
The incident has raised concerns about women’s safety in public spaces. Local residents have demanded increased police patrolling and better lighting in the area. “This is a busy street, and yet such a brazen attack happened in broad daylight. We feel unsafe,” said a shopkeeper who witnessed the aftermath.

Women’s rights activists have condemned the attack and called for swift justice. “The rising number of such incidents is alarming. The administration must ensure that perpetrators are punished severely to deter future crimes,” said activist Meera Sharma.
Meanwhile, the victim’s family has appealed to the public for any information that could lead to the arrest of the accused. “We want the culprit to be caught as soon as possible. My daughter is traumatized and in pain,” said the victim’s father.
