Panic gripped the Sant Nagar area of Mandi Gobindgarh town late Monday night after the body of a woman was discovered inside a storage box of a bed. The body was allegedly being transported by a man and a woman on a makeshift motorised cart. When the vehicle reportedly ran out of fuel, they abandoned the bed on the roadside and fled. Locals discovered the body inside the bed box and alerted the police.
Police Response and Detentions
Mandi Gobindgarh SHO Sandeep Singh arrived at the scene with a police team, secured the area, and sent the body to the Civil Hospital mortuary for post-mortem examination. The SHO confirmed that two individuals have been detained in connection with the incident. A detailed investigation is underway to ascertain the identity of the deceased and the circumstances leading to her death.
Ongoing Investigation
Police are working to determine the cause of death and identify any suspects beyond the two detained. The case has been registered, and forensic analysis is expected to provide further clues. Authorities are also reviewing CCTV footage from nearby locations to trace the route of the cart.
