Pune: A 35-year-old daily wage worker from Shelu in Khed taluka allegedly murdered his live-in partner by banging her head on the floor and later died by suicide by hanging himself. The incident happened on Wednesday. A case of murder was registered with the North Mahalunge MIDC police on Thursday.

The police identified the deceased woman as Pinabai Ramdas Kedari (30) and the man as Navnath Kedari.

Senior police inspector Digambar Suryavanshi of the North Mahalunge MIDC police said that Kedari was a daily wage worker and had been living with his late brother's wife. "Their relatives told us that the couple frequently quarrelled over domestic issues," Suryavanshi said. He added that in the early hours of Wednesday, the accused might have killed the woman by banging her head on the floor of their room while she was asleep. He later hanged himself from an angle near the window of the room.
