Youth Drowns in Dam Near Pune

A 19-year-old youth from Maval taluka drowned in the backwaters of a dam near Bhoyare village, approximately 51 kilometers from Pune, on Wednesday. The deceased has been identified as Darshan Karvande, a resident of Bhoyare.

Incident Details

According to the Wadgaon Maval police, Karvande and his friends had gone swimming in the backwaters. He failed to assess the depth of the water and subsequently drowned. The local residents alerted the authorities, prompting a search operation.

Recovery of Body

A team from Wanyajeev Rakshak, a wildlife rescue organization based in Maval, traced the body and handed it over to the Pune Rural police. The body was recovered in the evening.

An officer from the Wadgaon Maval police stated, We have registered a case of accidental death in this regard.
