Property Dealer and YouTube News Associate Found Dead in Hathras Drain

The body of a 35-year-old property dealer, who was also associated with a YouTube news channel, was discovered in a drain within the Sahpau police station area of Hathras district. Police have initiated a murder investigation against two of his neighbors and suspended two officers due to alleged negligence in handling the case.

Victim Identified as Vedprakash Sharma

The deceased has been identified as Vedprakash Sharma, also known as Sonu, a resident of Delhiwala mohalla. His sister, Neetu Sharma, filed a formal complaint alleging that two neighbors—Kamal Sharma and Gaurav Kumar, alias Kullo Pehelwan—had been pressuring Vedprakash for the past fifteen days to sell his house to them. According to her statement, when Vedprakash refused their demands, they allegedly killed him on the night of April 6.

Police Register Murder Case Under BNS Section 103

A case has been officially registered against both accused individuals under Section 103 (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Neetu Sharma further claimed that the two suspects had assaulted her brother approximately two years ago in another attempt to seize his property. She also noted that previous cases involving illegal extortion and forcible occupation of properties had been filed against them.

Ongoing Property Dispute and Police Response

Hathras Superintendent of Police Chiranjeev Nath Sinha confirmed that there was an ongoing dispute between the two parties. The body has been sent for a post-mortem examination, and the report is currently awaited. In response to the incident, SP Sinha suspended the local outpost in-charge and a beat constable for alleged negligence and ordered a departmental inquiry into their conduct.

Journalists Demand Immediate Arrest of Accused

On Wednesday, local journalists met with the Superintendent of Police, urging the immediate arrest of the accused individuals. This call for action highlights community concerns over the handling of the case and the need for swift justice in this tragic event.
