15,000 Akal Academy Students Form Human Chain for Drug-Free Record

At 8 am on June 26, 2026, more than 15,000 students from 121 Akal Academy schools stood shoulder to shoulder in their playgrounds to form the words 'We Are Drug Fee' as part of a synchronized campaign against drug abuse. The event, organized by The Kalgidhar Trust on the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, aimed to enter the World Book of Records, London.

Campaign Across Multiple States

The human chain spanned schools in Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan. In Ropar district, 75 students from Akal Academy Kamalpur participated. Teachers noted the atmosphere was filled with pride and purpose as children positioned themselves to ensure the giant formation was perfectly visible.

Personal Commitment and Pledge

Students held placards and took a pledge to remain drug-free, promising to encourage friends and family to adopt healthy lifestyles. Many expressed hope that their message would reach young people vulnerable to substance abuse.

Principal's Statement

Amandeep Kaur, Principal of Akal Academy in Ropar, said: 'This initiative reflects the determination of our students to stand against drug abuse and promote healthy living. Through year-round awareness programmes, value-based education, counselling support and preventive interventions, our schools continue to maintain drug-free campuses.' She added that the Kalgidhar Trust's students have previously set two World Records and one Limca Book of Records recognition through similar public awareness initiatives.

Larger Mission

While the record attempt may earn a place in official books, organizers believe the real achievement lies in thousands of children standing together for a cause that has deeply affected society. In a state battling drug addiction, their human formation served as a powerful reminder that lasting change begins with the next generation.
