A devastating head-on collision near the Kotekal curve in Kurnool district claimed the lives of five family members from Kolar district in the early hours of Saturday. The victims, including two young children, were on their way to Mantralaya for a religious pilgrimage when the tragedy struck around 4:45 AM.
Details of the Fatal Accident
The family was traveling in a Swift Dzire car when the driver reportedly fell asleep at the wheel, causing the vehicle to veer dangerously to the right side of the road. At this moment, the car collided head-on with an oncoming SUV, a Toyota Fortuner.
The impact of the collision was so severe that the Swift Dzire was completely mangled beyond recognition. All five occupants of the car died instantly at the scene, according to police reports.
Victims Identified as Family from Chikkahosahalli
The deceased have been identified as residents of Chikkahosahalli village in Bangarpet taluk. The family members who lost their lives include:
Venkateshappa, 60, the family patriarch, his daughter Meenakshi, 32, her husband Satish, 36, and their two grandchildren Rutvik and Bhuvit Goud.
Srinivasalu, the Sub-Inspector of Yemmiganur police station, confirmed that preliminary investigations suggest driver fatigue as the primary cause of the accident. The driver lost control of the vehicle while reportedly dozing off, leading to the fatal collision.
