LPG Tanker Crash and Fire in Kaushambi Leaves Seven Injured
Seven people, including six toll plaza employees and a truck driver, were injured after an LPG tanker caught fire following a road accident in Uttar Pradesh's Kaushambi district on Friday morning, police confirmed.
The incident occurred in the Kokhraj police station area when the LPG tanker lost control, hit a divider, and then crashed into a toll booth. The collision caused a gas leak that ignited, triggering a massive blaze visible from nearly two kilometers away.
Emergency Response and Rescue Operations
Multiple fire tenders were dispatched to the scene and managed to bring the fire under control. Superintendent of Police Satyanarayan Prajapat stated that the tanker driver fled after the accident. All fire brigade units in the district, along with civil police personnel, were deployed at the site.
Fire personnel continued to monitor the area even after the fire was extinguished to ensure no further risks.
Injured Victims and Medical Treatment
Four toll plaza employees—Alok Singh, Hiramani, Atul Mishra, and Krishna Pal Maurya—along with the truck driver were initially admitted to the district hospital. Due to the seriousness of their injuries, they were later referred to SRN Hospital in Prayagraj.
Two other injured toll workers were admitted to the Muratganj Community Health Centre and are reported to be out of danger, according to police officials.
Investigation and Further Action
Officials informed the district supply inspector and a technical team about the accident. The technical team will investigate all aspects of the incident to determine the exact cause of the fire. Authorities are also searching for the absconding tanker driver.
