AAP MP Sanjay Singh Raises Alarm Over UP Voter List Discrepancies
Aam Aadmi Party MP Sanjay Singh has raised serious questions about voter lists in Uttar Pradesh. He pointed out a major discrepancy between two official documents. The State Election Commission published a voters list in December. That list showed over 17 crore eligible voters in the state.
Four Crore Voters Vanish in One Month
Sanjay Singh highlighted a shocking detail. The Election Commission of India published its SIR list just 25 days later. This new list contained only 12.5 crore voters. The AAP leader demanded answers from multiple authorities.
"Can the SEC, ECI, UP government, CM Yogi Adityanath or CEC Gyanesh Kumar explain what happened to four crore voters in less than a month?" Singh asked. He called this the biggest manipulation of the voter list in the state's history.
The MP explained the process. In December, employees of the UP government prepared separate voter lists. These lists were for gram panchayat, BDC, district panchayat and local body elections. They declared 17 crore eligible voters at that time. The same employees later carried out the SIR exercise. They then found that UP has only 12.55 crore voters.
"This is a fraud that needs to be investigated," Singh stated firmly.
Allegations of Planned Vote Inflation
Sanjay Singh addressed another concern. He said the discrepancy between the first and second lists became public. After that, the Chief Minister spoke about increasing 200 votes at every booth. Uttar Pradesh has 1.77 lakh booths. This means the BJP could add around 3.5 crore votes in UP.
The AAP MP made a serious allegation. He claimed the BJP would bring people from other states. These people would get fraudulently registered as voters in Uttar Pradesh.
Demand for Transparency and Public Scrutiny
Sanjay Singh made specific demands. He wants to see the forms filled by Booth Level Officers. These forms are for enrolment of new voters, shifted voters and missing voters. He said these should match the forms submitted by the people themselves. This comparison would immediately expose any discrepancies.
The Election Commission has provided some explanations. They said 46 lakh people have died. They also identified 25 lakh duplicate votes. Singh insists all these records should become public.
"We have already come across cases where living people have been shown as dead and dead people have been shown as alive," he revealed.
Specific Examples from Multiple Districts
The MP cited examples from several districts. He mentioned Kannauj, Rampur, Lucknow, Sultanpur, Noida, Bahraich and Kanpur Dehat. In these places, irregularities appear in the records.
- Some houses show 18 to 49 registered voters.
- Living people have been declared dead in official documents.
- Outsiders have been added to family registers in other instances.
Promise of Further Action
Sanjay Singh announced his next steps. He will write to the chief electoral officer of Uttar Pradesh. He also plans to raise this matter in Parliament. The MP made a powerful comparison to emphasize the scale.
"More voters than the entire population of Canada have been deprived of their voting rights in UP," he said. Singh believes the Supreme Court should take immediate notice of this situation.
