AAP MP Sanjay Singh Slams Budget 2026, Demands Accountability on Promises
AAP Rejects Budget, Demands Accountability on Promises

Aam Aadmi Party MP Sanjay Singh on Sunday delivered a scathing critique of the Union Budget 2026-27, declaring his party's complete rejection of the financial document. He demanded that the government provide a written and public account of every promise made to the nation's youth, farmers, and common citizens.

Demanding Answers from the Centre

Sanjay Singh asserted that the central government cannot evade its responsibility to answer the people of India. He emphasized the need for transparency and accountability regarding commitments that have remained unfulfilled over the years.

Questioning Silence on Inflation

The AAP leader also challenged the government's conspicuous silence on the persistent issue of inflation, which continues to burden households across the country. He highlighted how rising prices are eroding the purchasing power of ordinary Indians.

Unfulfilled Promises to Youth and Farmers

Singh pointed to specific broken pledges, recalling that when Prime Minister Narendra Modi first took office, he promised the creation of two crore jobs annually. "Today, twelve years later, the country's youth is rightfully demanding an account of the twenty-four crore jobs that should have been generated," he stated.

Regarding the agricultural sector, he noted that farmers were assured their incomes would be doubled. "Instead, they are struggling to even recover their basic production costs," Singh lamented. He criticized the Budget for lacking essential measures such as:

  • A legal guarantee for Minimum Support Price (MSP)
  • Comprehensive debt relief for distressed farmers
  • Any substantive scheme to genuinely enhance farmers' income

The MP concluded that the Budget offers "nothing for the common man" and fails to address the core economic challenges facing the nation, echoing broader opposition sentiments that have labeled it a "Humpty Dumpty" budget lacking substance and vision.
