VBA Chief Prakash Ambedkar Slams India-US Pact, Calls It Sovereignty Threat
Ambedkar Criticizes India-US Agreement as Sovereignty Risk

VBA Leader Prakash Ambedkar Condemns India-US Agreement as Sovereignty Compromise

In a sharp critique from Nagpur, Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA) chief Prakash Ambedkar on Monday launched a scathing attack on the Central government over India's recent agreement with the United States. Ambedkar alleged that the pact poses severe threats to the nation's agricultural sector, industrial framework, and overall economic policy, while fundamentally compromising India's sovereignty.

Allegations of Policy Shift and Economic Harm

Addressing a press conference in Nagpur, Ambedkar detailed his concerns, claiming that the terms of the agreement would inflict significant damage on agriculture and extend its negative influence to industrial and economic decisions. He asserted that the policy direction is now effectively shifting in favor of the United States, undermining India's independent decision-making capabilities.

"Through this agreement, the government has mortgaged India's sovereignty to America," Ambedkar declared emphatically. He elaborated on specific economic impacts, noting that export duties to the US, previously around 2.5%, are set to skyrocket to 18%, whereas imports from the US would attract zero duty. This disparity, he argued, could cripple domestic industries and farmers.

Broader Implications and Call for Opposition Action

Ambedkar further claimed that under the agreement, the US would gain oversight over India's industrial and economic policies, allowing it to influence critical decisions. This, he warned, would weaken India's autonomy and strategic independence on the global stage.

The senior politician urged the opposition to broaden its focus beyond agricultural issues alone. "The opposition must speak not only about agriculture but also about the broader policy implications," he stressed, highlighting the need for a comprehensive critique of the pact's far-reaching consequences.

Planned Protest Rally in Mumbai

In response to these concerns, Ambedkar announced that the VBA is organizing a protest rally scheduled for March 2 in Mumbai. This demonstration aims to mobilize public opinion and pressure the government to reconsider the agreement, emphasizing grassroots resistance against what he perceives as a sovereignty-threatening deal.

The rally is expected to draw attention to the alleged adverse effects on key sectors and rally support for safeguarding national interests against foreign influence.
