BJP national president Nitin Nabin arrived in Amritsar on Saturday, marking his first visit to Punjab after assuming the party's top position. The three-day tour aims to energize the cadre and review the party's preparedness for the 2027 assembly elections, where the BJP intends to contest all 117 seats.
Strategic Visit Amid Expansion Push
This visit comes as part of the BJP's efforts to expand its footprint in Punjab's political landscape. Nabin's arrival follows the appointment of Kewal Singh Dhillon, a Jat Sikh, as the state unit president—a first for the BJP in Punjab, signaling a strategic focus on the community ahead of the 2027 polls.
Nabin was accompanied by party national general secretary Tarun Chugh. He was welcomed at Amritsar airport by Punjab BJP president Dhillon, former state unit chief Sunil Jakhar, and other party leaders.
Engagements in Amritsar, Jalandhar, and Ludhiana
During his stay, Nabin will participate in religious, social, and organizational programs. In Amritsar, he is scheduled to visit the Golden Temple, Jallianwala Bagh, Durgiana Mandir, and Sri Ram Tirath Mandir. He will then travel to Jalandhar, where BJP workers and supporters will greet him.
On June 21, Nabin will attend International Yoga Day celebrations at Lovely Professional University in Phagwara. Later, he will proceed to Ludhiana to inaugurate the district BJP office on Dugri Road and address a meeting of sub-circle incharges and senior party functionaries. In the evening, he will interact with industrialists and business community members.
Meetings with Leaders and Youth
On June 22, Nabin will meet Members of Parliament, former MPs, MLAs, former MLAs, and youth representatives. He will also participate in a youth conclave and hold meetings with state office-bearers, district presidents, and members of the BJP Punjab core group.
This tour underscores the BJP's commitment to strengthening its organizational structure and engaging with various stakeholders to secure a strong performance in the upcoming assembly elections.
