In a shocking incident, Chandranath Rath, the personal assistant of senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Leader of Opposition in West Bengal Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, was shot dead in Madhyamgram, North 24 Parganas district, on Wednesday evening.

According to police sources, the assailants fired multiple rounds at Rath when he was returning home after work. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him brought dead. The motive behind the murder is yet to be ascertained, and a manhunt has been launched to nab the culprits.
