Church Leader Applauds Government's Move on Koshy Commission Report
Yuhanon Mar Diascoros Metropolitan, who heads the media department of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church, has expressed strong approval of the government's recent decision to accept the Justice JB Koshy Commission report in principle. This development, he emphasized, fulfills a long-standing demand from Christian churches across the region, marking a significant step forward in addressing their concerns.
Call for Transparency and Full Disclosure
In his statement, the Metropolitan highlighted that with the report now formally accepted, the government must be prepared to publish its complete contents without delay. He pointed out that while officials have claimed several recommendations from the commission have already been implemented, there has been a notable lack of public information regarding these actions. This opacity has forced churches to depend on media reports for updates, creating uncertainty and hindering effective engagement with the process.
The Metropolitan stressed the importance of transparency in ensuring that all stakeholders, including the Christian community, are fully informed about the government's actions and the report's implications. He urged authorities to move beyond mere acceptance and take concrete steps to disclose the details, fostering trust and accountability in the implementation of the commission's findings.
