Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta Inaugurates 500 Electric Buses and New Delhi-Panipat Route
In a significant move to mark the first anniversary of the BJP-led government in Delhi, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Sunday officially flagged off approximately 500 electric buses and launched the new Delhi–Panipat bus service. The ceremony, held at Ramlila Maidan, was attended by key dignitaries including Transport Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh, PWD Minister Parvesh Verma, and BJP national president Nitin Nabin.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta Addresses Development Stagnation
Addressing the assembled crowd, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta delivered a pointed critique of the previous administration, asserting that Delhi's progress had been severely hindered for over a decade before the BJP assumed power. "For eleven long years, Delhi was trapped in a state of developmental paralysis. The dreams and aspirations of its citizens slowly faded away, and the city ceased to envision a brighter future. Residents were left grappling with a lack of essential services such as clean water, efficient sewage systems, and accessible healthcare," she stated emphatically.
Gupta highlighted the 2025 assembly elections as a turning point, where the electorate delivered a decisive mandate. "In the 2025 polls, the people of Delhi issued a powerful rebuke to those who once proclaimed themselves as the unchallenged rulers of this great city," she added, reflecting on the political shift.
Direct Critique of Former CM Arvind Kejriwal
In a direct reference to her predecessor, Arvind Kejriwal, Gupta remarked, "The arrogant Kejriwal once boasted that defeating him would require being reborn. However, the resilient people of Delhi, right here in this very Ramlila Maidan, within this lifetime, transformed the political landscape by electing a BJP government. This demonstrates that while the public can elevate leaders with immense affection, they also possess the wisdom to hold them accountable and bring about change."
Transport Minister Pankaj Singh Highlights Government Achievements
Transport Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh expressed profound satisfaction as the government completed its inaugural year in office. "Today is a day of immense pride and joy as we celebrate one year of our administration. It is even more rewarding to see us actively fulfilling the commitments we made to the citizens of Delhi. The introduction of 500 electric buses and the enhanced connectivity between Delhi and Panipat are testament to our unwavering dedication. Our efforts are steadily advancing, day by day," he affirmed.
Environmental Benefits Emphasized by BJP MLA Anil Goyal
BJP MLA Anil Goyal underscored the environmental advantages of the new electric bus fleet. "This celebration is dedicated to Delhi and its environmental rejuvenation. To combat the city's severe air pollution, we are inaugurating 500 electric vehicle buses. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, Minister Pankaj Singh, and the entire team for their relentless efforts in making this initiative a reality," he commented.
The event not only commemorated a year of governance but also showcased the administration's focus on sustainable urban mobility and improved regional connectivity, aligning with broader goals of reducing carbon emissions and enhancing public transportation infrastructure in the national capital.
