Delhi Government Marks First Anniversary with Major Transport Initiatives
In a significant move to commemorate the first year of the BJP-led administration in Delhi, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, alongside key ministers and party officials, officially launched approximately 500 electric buses and inaugurated the new Delhi-Panipat bus service on Sunday. The event, held at Ramlila Maidan, was attended by Transport Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh, PWD Minister Parvesh Verma, and BJP National President Nitin Nabin, symbolizing a major step forward in the government's commitment to urban development and environmental sustainability.
Chief Minister Highlights End to Years of Neglect
Addressing a large gathering, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta emphasized that the people of Delhi have decisively ended what she described as years of developmental neglect by electing the BJP government. "For over a decade, Delhi languished in stagnation, with the hopes and dreams of its residents fading away," Gupta stated. "Basic necessities such as reliable water supply, efficient sewage systems, and accessible healthcare were consistently overlooked. However, in the 2025 assembly elections, the citizens of Delhi delivered a powerful response to those who once claimed unchallenged authority over the capital."
Gupta further criticized former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, recalling his previous assertion that defeating him would require being reborn. "The arrogant Kejriwal once declared, 'You will have to be reborn to defeat me.' Yet, the people of Delhi, in this very lifetime and at this very venue of Ramlila Maidan, have transformed the political landscape by establishing a BJP government," she remarked. "This demonstrates that while Delhi's residents can elevate leaders with affection, they are equally capable of holding them accountable and bringing about change when promises remain unfulfilled."
Transport Minister Announces Fulfillment of Promises
Transport Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh highlighted the government's progress in delivering on its electoral commitments as it completes one year in office. Speaking to ANI, Singh expressed his satisfaction with the introduction of 500 electric buses and enhanced connectivity between Delhi and Panipat. "Today is a moment of immense pride as we celebrate the first anniversary of our government, coinciding with my own completion of one year as an MLA," Singh said. "It is particularly rewarding to see our promises materialize, including the deployment of 500 electric buses for Delhi's commuters and the expansion of transport links to Panipat. Our efforts are steadily advancing, bringing tangible benefits to the people every day."
BJP MLA Emphasizes Environmental Benefits
BJP MLA Anil Goyal, who was present at the inauguration, underscored the environmental significance of the new electric buses. He noted that the initiative aims to combat air pollution and improve Delhi's overall ecological health. "This celebration is dedicated to Delhi and its environment. To address the city's severe air pollution, we are inaugurating 500 EV buses today, thanks to the leadership of BJP National President Nitin Nabin," Goyal explained. "I extend my gratitude to Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, Minister Pankaj Singh, and our entire team for their unwavering dedication to making Delhi cleaner and more sustainable."
The launch of the electric buses and the Delhi-Panipat service represents a dual focus on modernizing public transport and fostering regional connectivity. These initiatives are expected to reduce carbon emissions, alleviate traffic congestion, and provide reliable transportation options for residents and commuters alike. As the BJP government moves into its second year, these projects signal a continued emphasis on infrastructure development and environmental stewardship, aligning with broader goals of urban renewal and public welfare in the national capital.
