DMK-Congress Alliance Speculation Quelled by Kanimozhi

DMK MP Kanimozhi Puts Full Stop to Alliance Speculation, Says TNCC Chief

In a significant development regarding the upcoming elections, DMK MP K Kanimozhi has decisively ended all speculation surrounding the DMK-Congress alliance, according to Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) president and Sriperumbudur MLA K Selvaperunthagai. The statement was made on Friday during a public accounts committee inspection in Thanjavur, where Selvaperunthagai addressed media queries about the political partnership.

Denial of Seat-Sharing Knowledge and Positive Negotiations

Selvaperunthagai firmly denied having any specific knowledge about the ongoing seat-sharing discussions between the DMK and Congress parties. He emphasized that alliance negotiations have been positive and constructive, with talks progressing well towards a final decision. "Kanimozhi had already quelled speculation and rumours, proving the alliance's natural strength," he told reporters, highlighting the MP's role in stabilizing the political discourse.

He further clarified that he is unaware of what was discussed between Rahul Gandhi and Kanimozhi, stating, "Even if I did, it would not be appropriate to share it with the media." This underscores the confidentiality maintained in high-level party discussions.

Dismissal of Demands and Emphasis on National Leadership

The TNCC chief dismissed reports that Congress was demanding 41 assembly seats and one Rajya Sabha seat, labeling such claims as unfounded. He stressed that all key decisions regarding elections, seat allocation, and agreements rest with the national leadership of the party. "The final outcome will be decided by AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi," he asserted, reinforcing the centralized decision-making process within the Congress party.

This clarification aims to streamline expectations and prevent misinformation from clouding the alliance's progress.

Inspection Activities in Thanjavur

Earlier in the day, Selvaperunthagai conducted inspections of various buildings and facilities in Thanjavur as part of his public accounts committee duties. Key sites visited included the Government Raja Mirasudar Government Medical College Hospital, where he interacted with the district collector, doctors, and patients to review improvements and service quality. This engagement highlights his commitment to governance and public welfare alongside political responsibilities.

The inspection served as a backdrop for his political statements, blending administrative oversight with electoral updates.
