Hisar Court Gives Life Term to Father, Sons in Murder

A local court in Hisar has sentenced a father and his two sons to life imprisonment in connection with a four-year-old murder case. The convicts, identified as Vinod and his sons Arun and Gulshan, were found guilty of killing Yogesh Goswami in Fatehabad's Ramniwas Mohalla. District and sessions judge Deepak Agarwal also imposed a fine of Rs 16,500 on each of the convicted individuals.

Details of the Incident

According to district attorney Devendra Mittal, the incident occurred on May 23, 2022. Vinod, along with his sons Arun and Gulshan, engaged in a quarrel with Siddharth, the nephew of the deceased Yogesh Goswami, while Siddharth was returning home from the market. Later that day, Goswami, accompanied by his wife Poonam and Siddharth, went to the accused's residence to protest the earlier altercation. However, the accused attacked the family with sticks and sharp-edged weapons on the street.

During the assault, Goswami sustained multiple injuries and collapsed on the spot. Poonam and Siddharth also suffered injuries in the attack. Hearing the commotion, local residents rushed to the scene, prompting the accused to flee. The injured were taken to the Civil Hospital, where doctors declared Yogesh dead upon arrival.

Legal Proceedings

On May 24, 2022, Naveen Kumar, the brother of the deceased, filed a formal complaint with the police, initiating the investigation. During the trial, one of the accused, Dhannat — the mother of Vinod — passed away, leading to the abatement of proceedings against her.

After a thorough examination of witness testimonies, medical evidence, and police records, the court concluded that the three accused were guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. The judge subsequently awarded them life imprisonment, along with a fine of Rs 16,500 each. The court's decision underscores the severity of the crime and aims to deliver justice to the victim's family.
