Homemaker Dies in Scooter Accident at Kannamba Junction

Thiruvananthapuram: A tragic accident occurred at Kannamba Junction near Varkala on Thursday morning, resulting in the death of a 51-year-old homemaker. The deceased has been identified as Prameela of Kallazhivila. She was riding pillion on a scooter driven by her son when the incident took place at 10:15 am.

According to police reports, the scooter's brakes reportedly jammed while the vehicle was in motion, causing the rider to lose control. Prameela fell headfirst onto the road and sustained severe head injuries. She was immediately rushed to a private hospital for emergency treatment. However, despite all medical efforts, she succumbed to her injuries.

Her son, who was also injured in the accident, is currently undergoing treatment at the same hospital. His condition is reported to be stable.

The police have registered a case under provisions related to unnatural death and have launched an investigation into the circumstances leading to the accident. Further inquiries are underway to ascertain the exact cause of the mishap.

Prameela was the sister of former Varkala municipal councillor Pradeep. The local community has expressed shock and grief over the incident.
