All major roads in Jalandhar from PAP Chowk to Bhagwan Valmiki Chowk have been adorned with saffron flags and BJP posters as the party's national president, Nitin Nabin, prepares for his maiden visit to the city on Saturday.
Grand Welcome Planned
Party workers have been instructed to assemble at Shri Ram Chowk on Saturday evening to welcome the BJP national chief. From there, Nabin will lead a march with party workers and leaders towards Valmiki Chowk, according to district president Sushil Sharma.
The party has arranged for a chariot, which has arrived from the national capital, in which Nabin will be seated alongside state president Kewal Dhillon and Rajya Sabha member Tarun Chugh. Other party leaders will follow the chariot in open vehicles.
Only BJP leaders from urban Assembly segments have been involved in the event. Band teams, gidda, and bhangra artists have been engaged to make the event grand and lively. However, there will be no public address by the leader on Saturday.
Post-Event Schedule
Following the procession, the BJP chief will meet core committee members over dinner at a hotel. The next day, he will leave for Lovely Professional University to attend the International Yoga Day event. He will also attend a conclave with Sant Samaj at Haveli before departing for Ludhiana, where he has convened a meeting of over 8,000 party workers. All former MLAs, former MPs, and party office-bearers have been called for a meeting in Ludhiana on Monday.
All top BJP leaders from Jalandhar, including KD Bhandari, Rakesh Rathour, Manoranjan Kalia, Sushil Rinku, and Sheetal Angural, are expected to receive the national chief at Amritsar on Saturday morning and escort him to the city in the evening.
