Kozhikode: KPCC president Sunny Joseph announced that AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge and Lok Sabha opposition leader Rahul Gandhi would soon reveal the next chief minister of Kerala. Joseph made the statement to reporters in Kannur after returning from New Delhi, where discussions were held between the Congress high command and three chief ministerial aspirants: V D Satheesan, Ramesh Chennithala, and K C Venugopal.
No Further Talks Needed
Joseph expressed that he did not see the necessity for another round of discussions with state leaders on the matter. He described the talks as positive and indicated that the party high command would announce its decision shortly.
Call for Unity
“Everyone has been asked to refrain from controversial moves, and there has been reflection at the ground level. A good decision will be made, and everyone will move forward together,” Joseph stated. However, he declined to specify a date for the announcement.
Selection Criteria
Responding to another query, Joseph said the criteria for selecting the chief minister were already before the party high command. When asked whether the matter would be discussed with United Democratic Front (UDF) constituents, Joseph clarified that the decision rested with the party leadership.
