Mohali Family Blocks Highway with Children's Bodies

Mohali: The kin of a Mohali family on Monday blocked the Landran-Kharar highway with the bodies of three children, causing a nearly two-hour traffic jam, while demanding amendments to the FIR registered by Patiala Police.

Protest and Traffic Disruption

Senior police officers reached the spot and held talks with protesters, even as traffic was diverted and long queues built up on both sides. The demonstration brought vehicular movement to a standstill for approximately two hours, leading to significant inconvenience for commuters.

Background of the Tragedy

The protest followed Sunday's tragedy near Rajpura, where a couple allegedly jumped into a canal with their three children. While the couple was rescued, the children—aged 14, 12, and 7—drowned. Police have stated that the cause of the incident is under investigation.

The grieving family members, carrying the bodies in an ambulance, sat on the highway demanding changes to the FIR, claiming it did not accurately reflect the circumstances of the incident. Authorities are negotiating with the family to resolve the matter and ensure legal proceedings are conducted fairly.
