NSUI activists staged a protest outside the residence of Karnataka MP Raghavendra on Wednesday, demanding a thorough investigation into the NEET paper leak scandal. The protesters accused the government of failing to protect the integrity of the medical entrance examination.
Background of NEET
The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) was implemented in 2012 by the UPA government, led by then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. The exam was designed to ensure equal opportunities and a merit-based admission system for medical education across the country.
Protest Highlights
The demonstrators carried placards and shouted slogans, calling for strict action against those responsible for the leak. They also demanded a high-level probe to restore trust in the examination system. The protest remained peaceful, with police maintaining a presence to prevent any untoward incidents.
Speaking to reporters, NSUI leaders said that the paper leak has compromised the future of thousands of aspirants and urged the government to take immediate corrective measures. They also criticized the current administration for not addressing the issue promptly.
The protest comes amid growing concerns over the security of competitive exams in India, with recent leaks affecting multiple entrance tests. The NEET paper leak has sparked widespread outrage among students and parents, who are demanding accountability and systemic reforms.
