Over 70 Lakh Jobs Under PMVBRY, Says Modi

Patna: More than 70 lakh jobs have been created so far under the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana (PMVBRY), with 20 lakh youths completing their first six months of employment since the scheme's launch last year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced on Friday.

Addressing 2 lakh youths and employers at 200 locations across the country, including Patna, via videoconference, the PM disbursed Rs 2400 crore to 15 lakh beneficiaries. He emphasized that the scheme empowers first-time employees and bridges the gap between youth and industry. “In the last 12 years, government policies and decisions have created new job and employment sectors in the country,” he said.

The PM noted that India now has 2 lakh registered startups and is poised to lead the world in entrepreneurship, innovation, and technology. “The 21st century belongs to skilled talent, innovations, and technology,” he asserted.

Referring to his participation in the G7 Summit, PM Modi stated that the world is discussing India’s talent, skills, and youth potential. He highlighted the modernization of the EPFO system through technology, making the pension system simpler and more accessible. “Lakhs of new workers have been connected to health insurance and affordable healthcare facilities. The objective of the four new Labour Codes is to provide workers with greater security, transparency, and rights,” he added.

Under the Employment-Linked Incentive (ELI) scheme, individuals joining a job for the first time receive Rs 15,000 from the central government directly into their bank accounts upon initial EPFO registration. Employers also receive a monthly bonus of up to Rs 3,000 per employee. This amount is disbursed in two installments within the first 12 months of service.

In Patna, Revenue and Land Reforms Minister Dilip Kumar Jaiswal was the chief guest at the function organized by EPFO at Urja Stadium. A total of 721 participants attended, including 512 beneficiaries, 37 employers, representatives from industry associations, public representatives, senior state government officials, and EPFO staff.

Thirteen appointment letters were distributed by employers to newly recruited employees in Patna. Several employers praised the scheme, stating it would boost formal employment and help industries secure qualified human resources. Beneficiaries expressed gratitude, noting that the scheme provides social security benefits alongside employment and gives a new direction to their futures.
