Tragic Accident Claims Life of Para Commando in Hathras
A decorated para commando serving with the special forces, currently posted in Pathankot, tragically lost his life in a devastating road accident in Uttar Pradesh's Hathras district during the early hours of Friday. The catastrophic incident also left three of his close friends fighting for their lives with critical injuries after their sports utility vehicle violently collided with a roadside tree.
Details of the Fatal Collision
According to local eyewitness accounts and police reports, the unfortunate event unfolded around 3:00 AM near a temple turn on the Sadabad-Raya road. The vehicle, carrying four occupants, suddenly veered off the roadway and smashed into a sturdy neem tree with tremendous force. The impact was so severe that it completely mangled the SUV's structure, trapping all passengers inside and inflicting life-threatening wounds.
The deceased soldier has been identified as 32-year-old Yogendra Singh, a resident of Gudera village in Mathura district's Raya area. Yogendra was returning to Mathura alongside his companions—Vishnu Kumar, Satyaveer Singh, and Jeetu Singh—after enjoying Holi festivities at a friend's residence in Hathras.
Military Service and Family Background
Yogendra Singh had proudly served in the Indian Army since 2011 and was approaching a significant milestone, with plans to complete fifteen years of distinguished service on March 31, 2026. His elder brother, Dharmender Singh, revealed that Yogendra had been on leave and had returned home twenty-five days prior to the accident. The commando leaves behind grieving parents, a devoted wife, a five-year-old daughter, and a four-month-old son.
"After the horrific crash, Yogendra was immediately rushed to the Military Hospital in Mathura," Dharmender Singh stated emotionally. "Despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries around 7:00 AM. He was contemplating voluntary retirement from service after reaching his service anniversary."
Police Investigation and Medical Response
Deputy Superintendent of Police (Sadabad) Amit Pathak confirmed that while Yogendra's family transported him to Mathura for treatment, his three injured friends were shifted to medical facilities in Agra for urgent care. "No formal complaint has been registered at this stage," DSP Pathak noted. "However, a thorough police investigation is currently underway to determine the exact circumstances leading to this tragic accident."
The incident has cast a shadow over the Holi celebrations in the region, highlighting the dangers of nighttime travel. The Indian Army community mourns the loss of a brave soldier whose service exemplified dedication and courage.
