The episode aired on the eve of Kargil Vijay Diwas, which marks the 25th anniversary of India's victory in the 1999 conflict.
Tributes to Kargil Vijay Diwas Heroes
Modi highlighted the courage and sacrifice of the Indian armed forces during the Kargil War, stating that the nation will forever be indebted to the soldiers who laid down their lives. He noted that Kargil Vijay Diwas is not just a day of victory but a reminder of the valour and determination of the Indian Army. According to PM Modi, 'The courage of our soldiers inspires every Indian to stand united against any adversity.' He urged citizens to visit war memorials and learn about the stories of bravery.
The Prime Minister also mentioned that the government has been working to improve the welfare of ex-servicemen and their families. He cited the construction of the National War Memorial in New Delhi as a tribute to the fallen heroes. Over 20,000 people have visited the memorial in the past year, reflecting the nation's respect for its martyrs.
Addressing Student Protests and Paper Leaks
Modi also addressed the recent student protests that have erupted in several states over alleged irregularities in competitive examinations and the issue of paper leaks. He emphasized the need for a fair and transparent examination system. 'The future of our youth cannot be compromised by the actions of a few unscrupulous elements,' he said. The Prime Minister assured that strict action would be taken against those involved in leaking question papers and that the government is committed to reforming the examination process.
He referred to the formation of a high-level committee to look into the issue and propose measures to prevent such incidents. The committee, headed by a former Chief Justice, has submitted an interim report recommending the use of advanced technology and centralized monitoring. Modi called upon students and parents to remain patient and support the efforts to ensure fairness.
Call for Unity and National Pride
In his address, Modi also touched upon the importance of national pride and unity. He urged citizens to participate in the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign ahead of Independence Day. The campaign, which encourages people to hoist the national flag at their homes, saw over 5 crore flags distributed last year. He also praised the role of the Indian diaspora in promoting India's culture globally.
The Prime Minister concluded by encouraging the youth to focus on skill development and innovation. He shared success stories of startups from smaller towns and highlighted the government's initiatives like the 'Startup India' scheme, which has helped over 1 lakh startups receive recognition. 'India is moving forward with the spirit of self-reliance,' he said, urging everyone to contribute to the nation's progress.
