Preparations Underway for Prime Minister Modi's Assam Visit
The Cachar district administration in Assam has initiated comprehensive preparations ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's scheduled visit to Silchar on March 14. Senior state officials conducted a detailed review of arrangements at the proposed rally venue on Wednesday, ensuring all logistical and security measures are in place for the high-profile event.
High-Level Inspection and Coordination Meeting
Assam Chief Secretary Ravi Kota, Director General of Police Harmeet Singh, along with ministers Kaushik Rai and Krishnendu Paul, personally inspected the Ramnagar bypass area. This location has been designated as the site where Prime Minister Modi will address a significant public gathering during his visit. Following the on-ground assessment, a crucial high-level meeting was convened at the office of the Cachar district commissioner.

Additionally, the Prime Minister is scheduled to lay the foundation stone for several key infrastructure projects that promise to transform connectivity in the region.
The highlight of these projects is the ambitious Rs 25,000-crore Guwahati-Barapani-Panchgram Expressway. This 166.8-kilometer greenfield, four-lane access-controlled expressway will be implemented by the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) as part of NH-06. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had earlier announced this significant infrastructure initiative, emphasizing its potential to enhance regional connectivity.
Another major project to be inaugurated is the much-awaited Silchar flyover, estimated to cost approximately Rs 700 crore. This flyover is expected to alleviate traffic congestion in the city and improve urban mobility.
