Actor Premkumar Champions Congress as Sole Anti-Communal Force at Kerala Cultural Festival
Premkumar: Only Congress Fights Communalism in India

Actor Premkumar Declares Congress as India's Sole Movement Against Communalism

In a significant address at a cultural festival in Kerala, prominent actor and former interim chairman of the Kerala State Chalachitra Academy, Premkumar, made a powerful political statement, asserting that there is no other movement in the country except the Congress party that actively fights against communalism.

Vigilance Against Divisive Forces

Speaking as the chief guest at the closing ceremony of Utsav 2026, the cultural festival organized by the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee's (KPCC) cultural wing in Kottayam on Tuesday, Premkumar emphasized the critical need for people to remain vigilant. "Congress is the movement I wish to see prevail in India," he stated unequivocally.

He urged citizens to guard against forces that aim to divide individuals who should be living together with love, support, and cooperation. "There should be unconditional love among people," Premkumar added, highlighting the importance of unity in a diverse society.

Artistic Freedom Under Threat

Premkumar expressed deep concern over the current state of artistic expression in the country. He pointed out that in today's world, artists often cannot freely express the thoughts they envision. "Some have an agenda to divide the human community that should stand united. This is a time when dissenting voices are being silenced," he remarked.

He went on to define any infringement on human freedom as fascism, stating firmly, "Freedom is paramount for humans." Premkumar advocated for artists to have the freedom to express without boundaries and, more importantly, the freedom to voice their opinions fearlessly, without conforming to any restrictive framework.

Nehru's Vision as a Guiding Light

To address the challenges of the present, Premkumar stressed the enduring importance of Jawaharlal Nehru's vision. He described Nehru's perspectives as the driving force that continues to lead India forward, noting that few world leaders have possessed such a long-term vision.

Premkumar warned against the dangers of political shifts, saying, "New rulers emerge based on changing political majorities, but the formation of communal majorities from these political shifts is dangerous." This statement underscored his call for a focus on inclusive governance over divisive politics.
