President Draupadi Murmu reached Jaisalmer late on Thursday evening, commencing a significant two-day official visit to Rajasthan. Her itinerary is centered around witnessing the ‘Vayu Shakti-2026’ programme at the Pokhran Field Firing Range on Friday, a major event showcasing India's aerial defense capabilities.

In a landmark moment, President Murmu is set to fly in the indigenous Light Combat Helicopter (LCH) "Prachand" at the Jaisalmer Air Force Station on Friday morning. This will make her the first Indian President to serve as co-pilot of a combat helicopter, particularly in the strategic border airspace of Jaisalmer. The 25-minute sortie is meticulously planned to include an aerial review of the city and its adjoining areas, with stringent security measures in place to ensure safety.

A formidable fleet has been assembled for the demonstration, with 77 fighter aircraft and 43 helicopters assigned for firing and operational roles.
