Punjab Chief Minister Hails Police Force for Maintaining State Peace and Security

In a significant address at the passing-out parade of 2,577 new police recruits at the PAP complex in Jalandhar on Wednesday, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann emphatically praised the Punjab Police for their unwavering dedication and sacrifices in establishing peace across the state. The Chief Minister underscored that the current tranquility in Punjab is a direct result of the relentless efforts and sacrifices made by police personnel who stand as the first line of defense against external threats.

Border Security Challenges and Firm Response

Chief Minister Mann highlighted the persistent challenges faced by Punjab as a border state, noting daily attempts by Pakistan to disrupt peace through anti-social elements and drone intrusions. "Punjab Police has to stand firmly guarding the international border," he asserted, emphasizing the critical role of the force in national security. He described the police not merely as a state force but as "the police of the entire nation," tasked with protecting the country's unity and integrity from nefarious external forces.

Mann warned that neighboring countries are continuously trying to trap Punjab's youth and push the state back into an era of turmoil, but he vowed that such attempts would be thwarted. "The brave Punjab Police does not spare anyone who tries to destabilise the state," he declared, reaffirming the force's commitment to preserving the hard-earned peace through rigorous vigilance and proactive measures.

Massive Recruitment and Modernization Initiatives

The Chief Minister detailed his government's substantial efforts in employment generation and police modernization, framing the recruitment drive as part of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government's broader employment revolution. Since March 2022, over 12,010 police personnel have been appointed, significantly bolstering the force's strength. Furthermore, the state government has earmarked Rs 1,100 crore to upgrade the police force on scientific lines, integrating cutting-edge technologies to enhance operational efficiency.

Key modernization measures include:

  • Integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) for advanced crime detection and prevention.
  • Establishment of specialised technical units to tackle emerging threats.
  • Strengthening of the anti-narcotics task force to combat drug trafficking effectively.

These initiatives are strategically designed to address contemporary challenges such as cybercrime, terrorism, and drug abuse, ensuring that Punjab Police remains at the forefront of law enforcement innovation.

Excellence in Training and International Recognition

Chief Minister Mann also spotlighted Punjab's superior police training infrastructure, noting that the state government has established state-of-the-art training centres across Punjab. "These facilities are unmatched and have garnered attention from across the country and beyond," he stated. Several states in India and even international police forces approach Punjab Police for training on modern lines, reflecting the high standards and expertise developed within the state.

The event was attended by Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav and other senior police officers, who witnessed the new recruits' parade. Mann's address reinforced the government's holistic approach to enhancing public safety through robust recruitment, technological advancement, and continuous training, positioning Punjab Police as a model force in the fight against crime and instability.
