Shivpuri Blast: Death Toll Rises to Two

Bhopal: The death toll in Wednesday’s explosion and fire at a house in Shivpuri district’s Gudar village rose to two on Thursday after an 11-year-old boy succumbed to burn injuries while undergoing treatment in Gwalior.

Kalla, son of Shishupal, died at Jayarogya Hospital (JAH), where he had been referred after his condition deteriorated. A post-mortem examination was being conducted in Gwalior.

The blast had earlier claimed the life of four-year-old Janvi Prajapati, who was trapped under debris when the house collapsed following the explosion.

The incident occurred around 8:30 am on Wednesday at the house of Pran Singh Prajapati in Gudar village under Khaniyadhana police station limits. Family members were preparing food when a powerful explosion ripped through the house, bringing down its roof and walls and triggering a fire. Kalla, a neighbour who was present in the house at the time, suffered severe burns. He was initially admitted to Shivpuri Medical College before being shifted to Gwalior.

Three other injured persons — Pran Singh Prajapati, Roshni Prajapati and Shiva Prajapati — remain under treatment in Gwalior. Police and district administration officials are yet to ascertain the exact cause of the explosion.
