Supriya Sule Urges Completion of Ajit Pawar's Vision, Addresses NCP Merger Speculation
In a heartfelt statement on Thursday, NCP (SP) working president Supriya Sule declared it a moral responsibility for everyone to fulfill the unfinished dreams of Ajit Pawar, who tragically died in a plane crash on January 28. Speaking to the press, Sule emphasized the need to honor his legacy while navigating the political landscape in the wake of his passing.
Merger Discussions Remain Confidential Amid Family Mourning
When questioned about ongoing speculation regarding a potential merger between the two NCP factions, Sule maintained a discreet stance. "We are supporting each other and moving forward. Dada is no more, so I do not want to revisit old matters. Whatever discussions we had remain between us," she stated, as reported by news agency PTI. She clarified that the family is currently in mourning and refrained from further comments on merger talks at this sensitive time.
Assurances Given on Plane Crash Inquiry
Addressing concerns raised by MLA Rohit Pawar about the circumstances surrounding the fatal plane crash, Sule provided reassurance. "His uneasiness is natural. There are many questions about what happened, how it happened and whether it could have been prevented," she explained. The Baramati Lok Sabha MP confirmed that Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has promised a detailed probe into the incident, urging patience as the investigation unfolds.
Gratitude Expressed for Cross-Party Support During Sharad Pawar's Hospitalization
Sule also took the opportunity to express sincere gratitude to leaders across political lines who extended their support during NCP patriarch Sharad Pawar's recent hospitalization. She highlighted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, Union Minister Rajnath Singh, and Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah were among those who reached out. "I sincerely thank everyone for standing with the Pawar family during this period," she said, acknowledging the solidarity shown in a time of personal and political challenge.
This development underscores the ongoing dynamics within the NCP and the broader political community as they grapple with loss and future directions.
