Sushma Andhare Rebuts Fadnavis on TET Scam
Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sushma Andhare on Friday countered Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis's claim that the biggest TET (Teacher Eligibility Test) paper leak scam occurred during Uddhav Thackeray's tenure. She asserted that Thackeray himself had exposed the massive scam in 2021.
Fadnavis's Allegation
A day earlier, CM Fadnavis alleged that the largest TET scam in Maharashtra's history took place while Thackeray was the chief minister. Fadnavis did not provide specific evidence but linked the scandal to the previous Maha Vikas Aghadi government.
Andhare's Counter
Responding to Fadnavis, Andhare stated that it was Thackeray who initiated action against the TET paper leak in 2021. According to Andhare, the then chief minister ordered a thorough investigation, leading to the exposure of the racket. She accused the current BJP-led government of attempting to shift blame and distort facts.
Political Context
The TET paper leak has been a contentious issue in Maharashtra, with multiple examinations being postponed or canceled due to breaches. The controversy has intensified political rivalry between the Shiv Sena (UBT) and the BJP. Andhare's remarks aim to set the record straight, emphasizing that Thackeray's government took proactive steps to address the leak.
The exchange highlights the ongoing blame game over examination malpractices, which have affected thousands of aspiring teachers across the state.
