A significant fire incident occurred at a footwear manufacturing factory in west Delhi's Udyog Nagar on Wednesday night, leading to the rescue of three individuals, including a woman. The Delhi Fire Services (DFS) responded promptly after receiving an emergency call at approximately 8:53 PM regarding a blaze at L-8, Udyog Nagar. Six fire tenders were immediately dispatched to the scene to combat the flames.
Details of the Incident
The fire originated on the ground floor of the factory, which is a multi-story structure comprising a basement, ground floor, and two upper floors, covering an area of around 400 square yards. The blaze quickly intensified due to the presence of machinery, plastic granules, and oil drums stored within the ground-floor unit.
Rescue Operation
Firefighters entered the building and rescued three individuals who were trapped inside, suffering from smoke inhalation. The rescued victims were identified as Ramchandra (50), Manohar (59), and Payal (45). They were promptly transported to Sanjay Gandhi Hospital via CATS and PCR vehicles for medical attention.
Firefighting Efforts
The firefighting team worked diligently to bring the blaze under control, achieving this goal by around 9:35 PM. However, cooling operations continued for several hours afterward to ensure no residual flames or hotspots remained. The swift response of the DFS prevented further escalation and potential casualties.

Local police have initiated an investigation into the cause of the fire. Preliminary assessments suggest that the fire may have been accidental, but a thorough inquiry is being conducted to determine the exact circumstances. Authorities are also examining compliance with fire safety regulations at the factory.
