TVK Chief Vijay Sworn In as CM: Celebrations in Trichy

Trichy: As TVK chief C Joseph Vijay was sworn in as chief minister, party cadres and supporters across Trichy district erupted in joy, with many bursting crackers, distributing sweets, and placing banners. A group of TVK supporters burst crackers and distributed sweets near the Sri Ranganathaswamy temple rajagopuram. Similar festivities were witnessed in Karur, where TVK cadres waving party flags watched Vijay assume office on an LED screen near the bus stand. Congress cadres also joined the celebrations. Some supporters visited temples and offered prayers.

Special Worship for Local MLA

Meanwhile, TVK functionaries from the Thiruverumbur constituency organised a special worship service at the Thirunedungalanaathar temple, praying for local MLA Vijayakumar, also known as Navalpattu Viji, to be inducted into the ministry. Accompanied by a portrait of Vijay, party cadres performed special abhishekam and aaradhanai for deities.

MLA Viji's Reaction

"It's up to the chief minister and our leader to make that call. I have no demands or expectations," Viji told TOI. He had defeated former school education minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi in the election. "It was 95% because of my leader's face and 5% because of my work that I could win," he added.
