Lucknow: Deputy Chief Minister and Health Minister Brajesh Pathak on Friday stressed that tuberculosis can be eradicated only through coordinated efforts and active public participation, as he highlighted the state’s progress under the Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan and reproductive and child health (RCH) programmes.
Virtual Review Meeting
Speaking during a virtual review meeting chaired by Union Health Minister JP Nadda, Pathak said Uttar Pradesh was implementing both flagship programmes on a large scale and had made notable strides in strengthening healthcare delivery. The meeting, held from the Vidhan Sabha complex, saw participation from health ministers and senior officials from states and Union territories.
Pathak’s Remarks on TB Elimination
“Through collective and sustained efforts, we will defeat TB,” Pathak said, underlining the need to intensify disease detection, ensure timely treatment and strengthen patient support systems. He added that the state had expanded its outreach and improved monitoring mechanisms under the national TB elimination campaign.
Progress in Maternal and Child Healthcare
Pathak shared updates on progress in maternal and child healthcare, immunisation coverage and reproductive health services, stating that the government remains focused on improving accessibility and quality of care across regions.
Additional Chief Secretary (Medical and Health) Amit Kumar Ghosh was also present in the meeting.
