Vizag Police Recover Stolen Goods Worth Rs 1 Crore in April

Visakhapatnam: In a significant achievement for crime prevention and detection, the Vizag police recovered stolen goods worth over Rs 1 crore in April. The recovered items included gold, cash, bikes, mobile phones, and other valuables.

Details of the Recovery

City police chief Shankabrata Bagchi reported that a total of 68 property offenses were registered in Vizag city during April. Of these, the police successfully solved 51 cases, leading to the arrest of 60 property offenders. The recovered items comprised 925 grams of gold ornaments, over 4.5 kilograms of silver ornaments, Rs 3.12 lakh in cash, 12 bikes, three auto-rickshaws, and 476 mobile phones (both stolen and missing), collectively valued at over Rs 1 crore.

Recovery Mela

The stolen property was handed back to its rightful owners during a recovery mela organized by the police on Saturday. This event marked a crucial step in restoring public confidence in law enforcement.

Long-Term Achievements

Over the past two years, the Vizag police have recovered a total of 10,372 mobile phones (stolen and lost) worth approximately Rs 15.56 crore. This demonstrates sustained efforts in tackling property crimes.

Preventive Measures

To prevent future crimes, the police have adopted a multi-faceted approach. In April, 502 CCTV cameras were installed across the city, significantly enhancing surveillance capabilities. Additionally, 190 crime awareness meetings were conducted to educate the public about criminal activities and prevention strategies.

Summer Patrol Intensified

Special patrolling teams and drone-based patrolling will be intensified to prevent property offenses during the summer holidays. During this period, many residents travel to their villages or visit tourist spots, making homes more vulnerable to theft.
