Panaji: Vice-President C P Radhakrishnan, currently on a two-day official visit to Goa, is set to inaugurate an exhibition dedicated to Padma Vibhushan recipient Mario Miranda. He will also release a commemorative stamp and a special cover to mark the centenary year of the legendary Goan cartoonist.
Goa Statehood Day Celebrations
Radhakrishnan is in Goa to commemorate the 40th anniversary of Goa Statehood Day on Saturday at the Dinanath Mangeshkar Kala Mandir, Kala Academy. The state-level event, organized by the department of information and publicity, will reflect on Goa’s remarkable journey from a Union territory to a progressive state while honoring its legacy and aspirations for the future.
Key Highlights of the Event
- Coffee-Table Book Launch: A coffee-table book titled Goa: Engineering the Next Era will be released, along with a special screening tracing Goa’s transformation from Union territory to statehood.
- Recognition of Community Efforts: The celebration will also recognize the contributions of swayampurna villages and swayampurna mitras towards building self-reliant communities.
- Police Sub-Inspector Appointments: Appointment letters will be distributed to newly-selected police sub-inspectors from the Goa police.
- Healthcare Enhancement: The event will feature the launch of enhanced assistance under the Deen Dayal Swasthya Seva Yojana (DDSSY).
- Dairy Farming Awards: Felicitations under the Gopal Ratna award scheme will be given for outstanding contributions in dairy farming and milk production.
