BJP workers celebrate Bengal win with Jhaal Muri

Jhansi: BJP workers celebrated the party's landslide victory in the West Bengal Assembly election with much fanfare on Monday. The party workers gathered at the local office here, raising slogans and kicking off the celebrations.

Senior leaders, including city president Sudhir Singh, Sadar MLA Ravi Sharma and Babina MLA Rajeev Singh Paricha, were present at the event. Workers prepared a large batch of Jhaal Muri (spicy puffed rice), which was later distributed among passersby near the office.

The snack, popular in West Bengal, recently drew national attention after Narendra Modi paused during a roadshow in Jhargram to buy and eat it from a local vendor. The gesture, reportedly involving a Rs 10 purchase, sparked widespread discussion on social media.

Speaking to TOI, the BJP city president said the distribution of Jhaal Muri symbolised celebration of the party's strong performance in Bengal. He added that the Prime Minister's gesture highlighted the party's commitment to supporting people from marginalised sections and promoting their development.
