BSF Deputy Commandant Ravindra Rathore, Team Awarded Gallantry Medals

Union Home and Cooperation Minister on Friday honored Deputy Commandant Ravindra Rathore and three other BSF personnel posted in the Sri Ganganagar Sector of the BSF Rajasthan Frontier with Gallantry Medals during the Border Security Force Investiture Ceremony and Rustamji Memorial Lecture program held in New Delhi.

The medals were awarded for their exceptional bravery and courage during Operation Sindoor and for risking their lives to apprehend Pakistani Rangers who attempted to cross into Indian territory from across the international border. The Gallantry Medal awards had earlier been announced on Independence Day last year.

According to official BSF sources, in May last year, Deputy Commandant Ravindra Rathore and his team, comprising Inspector Devi Lal, Head Constable Sahib Singh, and Constable Kanwaraj Singh, displayed extraordinary courage while deployed near the international border in Sri Ganganagar, Rajasthan. The team successfully captured Pakistani Rangers who had crossed into Indian territory with malicious intentions, thereby foiling Pakistan's nefarious designs.

For this remarkable act of bravery and valor, the Union Home Ministry had announced Gallantry Medals for the entire team.

Sources further stated that during Operation Sindoor, Deputy Commandant Ravindra Rathore demonstrated outstanding tactical leadership, courage, and strategic acumen, which helped alter a highly complex operational situation in India's favor. In recognition of his bravery and operational excellence, he was selected for the Gallantry Medal honor.

Officials said that during the operation, under extremely challenging and high-pressure circumstances, Rathore and his team successfully carried out a critical mission along the Rajasthan sector of the international border to save the life of a BSF jawan who was in grave danger. The team's presence of mind, selfless commitment, and unmatched courage earned them the Medal for Gallantry on the occasion of the 79th Independence Day.

The honor conferred upon these four brave BSF officers and jawans has brought immense pride and joy to the BSF Rajasthan Frontier and their families.

Deputy Commandant Ravindra Rathore, a resident of Bhanas village near Medta town in Nagaur district of Rajasthan, has been serving in the Border Security Force for the past 14 years, safeguarding the nation's borders with dedication and commitment.
