Panaji: The tribal welfare group Mission Political Reservation for Scheduled Tribes of Goa has temporarily suspended its peaceful protest for ten days following an assurance from tribal welfare minister Ramesh Tawadkar.
Minister's Assurance
Tawadkar informed the group that he has discussed the issue with chief minister Pramod Sawant and is scheduled to visit Delhi on May 23 and 24. He stated that he is actively following up on the matter and that the delegation will be called to Delhi once the appointment with the concerned central officials is confirmed, said Govind Shirodkar, spokesperson for the group.
Next Steps
Following the assurance, the tribal group will continue to pursue necessary meetings and dialogue over the next ten days with state and central government authorities to ensure that a notification specifying the date for implementation of political reservation for scheduled tribes in Goa is issued at the earliest.
The group emphasized that the protest is only temporarily called off and will resume if no progress is made within the stipulated period.
