A 62-year-old man was brutally murdered with a brick and stone near Fazilpur Chowk in Farukhnagar, Gurgaon, early Sunday morning. Two juveniles have been taken into custody in connection with the incident. The victim's identity has not yet been established.
Sequence of Events
A watchman first noticed the intoxicated man lying near a shop around 1:30 am. He called out to him but received no response. When the watchman returned to the spot around 3:30 am after completing his rounds, he found the man dead with severe head injuries. A blood-stained stone and tile were discovered nearby.
Police were alerted and immediately dispatched forensic teams to examine the scene. The body was subsequently sent to the mortuary for post-mortem and identification. The victim was taken to the Civil Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. A murder case has been registered at the Farukhnagar police station.
Investigation and Arrests
During the investigation, police analyzed CCTV footage and employed technical surveillance to identify the suspects. They discovered that two juveniles had gone to Fazilpur Chowk to buy cigarettes when they encountered the intoxicated victim. According to Sandeep Turan, police spokesperson, the accused teased the victim, who was sitting on the roadside, leading to a verbal exchange. The argument escalated, and the juveniles attacked him with a brick and stone, causing fatal injuries. The man attempted to fight back but failed due to his intoxicated state. After killing him, the accused checked his pockets to steal his belongings.
Police have taken both juveniles into custody and are interrogating them. Officials stated that further action will be taken as per rules, and the case remains under investigation.
Victim Identification Efforts
The victim has not yet been identified. His body remains in the mortuary, and an autopsy is pending. Investigators are checking missing person complaints and surveying neighboring areas for clues about the victim's identity. A police officer noted that the juveniles did not know the victim and encountered him randomly on the road.
